| Hi Chris,
Just a little update on Ringo (AKA Lakota) -- Things are going very well -- not a single reaction from Haley and we are loving this little kitty! He has brought so much joy (and I must add, humor) to our home! He is a very sweet cat and seems to enjoy hanging out with the family. I still have to get him to understand, though, that my workbench - full of pearls, gemstones and silver beads - is not a poucing playground! I've witnessed beads flying many times now! I recently bought him a fabulous cat structure from Costo, complete with scratching posts, padded levels, and a house on top. He enjoys sitting on it and looking out of our big picture windows. This morning I tried to get a picture of him to send you, but every time I pick up the camera, he turns his head! I'm beginning to think it's on purpose!...We have a fountain in our living room that he prefers to drink his water from... so I'm mindful of keeping the water changed and clean. He will go in to the vet tomorrow for his neutering -- the vet had to see him first before she would schedule the operation.
Again, all the best to you,
fondly,
M.W. Sunriver, OR
PS -- Lakota is determined to get those fish -- he's already managed to get the lid off and fell in -- who knows! Frankly, I'm tired of cleaning the aquarium! Those goldfish are from a school carnival 3 years ago when my kids won them. They refuse to die. They just keep getting bigger, and bigger and BIGGER!
I'll stay in touch!

Toby is great. Haven’t got any pictures yet, I’m not much of a photographer but I do have a digital camera and once I get organized I’ll get some shots and send them. And yes I’d love some pictures of him as a baby.
Thank heaven your last email told me to find out where the cargo place was!! I was, like an idiot, just planning to show up at Arrivals and pick him up. Of course it was snowing like crazy here, as it was in Oregon that day as I recall. So I called all round and got directions and was told to show up at the cargo place at 11:30 pm to pick up his papers, then go to the airport to get him thru customs and then back to the cargo place to pick him up. My sister and son were with me. When I got back the cargo people had already had him out of the crate, cuddled and taken all the blankets out as they were wet. He was a bit stunned for the first day or so, so much so that I had no trouble taking him out of the crate to hold him on the way home, even got a tiny purr. At home I put him in my bedroom and he stayed under the bed that night and the next day but by the second night he was wandering the room and visited me several times, gentle poke to get attention and tummy rubs. My dog was getting curious and stressed about having to stay in the family room at night, so I introduced them the third day and Toby stayed under a coffee table, not too happy about the big dog, but I think Skylar was more scared than Toby was. After a third night with Toby in my room, and on advice of all animal people, I gave Sky back her room with me and put Toby in the guest room that adjoins my room. Toby wasn’t too happy about that and we finally heard his little meow, all we’d heard before was purring. But he got used to it for a few days and I began to let him in in the morning and hold Skylar while Toby explored and approached. He gets really close, then puffs up just a bit, stands on his rear legs and does a little swipe in the air, but unless Sky gets too close he doesn’t really do much. Toby has found all the high places in my room and Sky has shown that all she wants to do is play. Toby is in fact approaching her now, sort of stalking her and then swiping at her. I think it is the beginning of play. And she is showing nothing but submissive behavior. So I’m not leaving them alone together but when Toby went nuts being shut in the guest room last night I just let him in and they sorted themselves out. It should all work out.
My kids and friends love him, he is so pretty and such a cuddle bunny as long as you let him come to you. He seems to get “No” re scratching, tho that’s not stopping him permanently. He’s more likely to take a playful swipe at one of the kids than a grown up so I’m assuming he sees them as playmates, me more as mom. He’s eating and drinking and he found and figured out his litter right away, had all the right excretions by the first day and seems healthy Man he can jump! Between the jump and scramble he can get right up the wall to the top of the closet, away from dogs and people.
So that’s the story. I thought you did drug him [No drugs are ever used!] to come as he was so calm and dopy when I picked him up and for the first day, but I bet it was more that he is just a brave little guy who actually enjoys new experiences. So unlike my other two cats, they would have been on the roof if I’d tried to take them out in the car that first night, and would have been under the bed for a week. So it takes a bit of getting used to, a cat who’s prepared to stalk a big dog, and while I was pretty sure of Skylar, well you know.
Do send baby pictures and I’ll try to get some shots of him, maybe even with Skylar if we keep progressing as we have so far, this weekend.

Chris, I wanted to let you know how much we are absolutely LOVING Cubby! He is the sweetest kitty ever! Just as you said, there have been no adjustment problems. He did a little bit of hiding under Julie's bed and the couch at first, but that didn't last long. We stayed up until 1 am playing with him, then he promptly stretched out on Julie's bed, and slept there the whole night, and last night, too. He loves his toys, is eating and drinking well, and is using the litter box with no problems. What a champ!
He jumps up next to me on the couch and snuggles with me while I love on him! We are in absolute heaven, and already don't know how we lived without him. Thank you again so very much for our beautiful kitty. I am already working on Mike for number two! Jay took some cute pictures of him.
